History of SEO

Search engine optimisation is the method of improving a website to increase its visibility when people search for products or services. In 90's people mostly used yahoo as search engine after 2000 google become more popular and widely accepted by the users.

History of SEO

Google was invented by two students as a part of there project. At first it took more than 24 hours to get the result in google. By 2000, internet was widely used around the world. When the attack on World Trade Centre in America people began to search about World Trade Centre in google but the result was not found in it, people were so disappointed about it. Google pointed that this problem was because of the site which was not crawlable. There are three main process in search engine, they are crawling, caching and indexing.crawling is the process by which a bot scans the web page and take the snapshot of that page and is saved into data base as different categories. This saving process is called caching and the categorising process is called indexing. In order to better crawling google published a SEO guide to the web host ( A person who control the web page ) saw the Google bot can crawl the web page and collects in information easily.

Evolution of SEO

At first google was niche specific (content specific). Keyword was mainly used for web page ranking. So the web hosts began to use keyword stuffing for better ranking, this leads to great problem because users began to get useless web pages and all. Black hat SEO were the one who uses non ethical methods for the ranking but on the other hand white hat SEO uses ethical methods for ranking. Google understands this problem and changed the algorithm to link specific where the page with more hyper link is ranked. Then the website owner began to sell the links so the google changed the algorithm to quality link specific where page is ranked from 0-10, this ranking is based on trust value. High ranking web pages also started to sell the links for overcoming this crisis they introduced passing the juice. In this the value or equity is passed from one page or site to another. Google also put forward no follow link for not  sharing the equity.

Google feared to change the algorithm because after the sudden growth of google they introduced Google Adwards (Google Ads) and Google AdSense. Google Adwards or Google Ads is used for advertising. Google AdSense is used for displaying ads in the web site. This programming provide google a great revenue. When the algorithm changes occurred they feared of losing there revenue. From 2009 Google began to rank web pages based on user interaction. They also introduced personalised search result and auto suggestion. When viewers came to a web site and goes out fast to another web page without any interaction, the ranking of the first page is decreased this is also known as bounce rate. By 2010 ranking was based on social media considering the influential power. Social media platform like facebook was widely used during that time.
